It’s funny what can trigger a headache – everyone is different however there are some common causes:
Work Related Stress – anything that causes you stress or being in stressful situations can often lead to tension headaches.
Warm weather – One recent study found a 7.5% increase in the risk of headaches for every five degrees temperature increase.
Strong Smells – Paint, Perfume, Flowers, Cleaning Materials can often be blamed for giving us a headache.
Hair – surprisingly, wearing your hair in a tight ponytail or headband can cause ‘hair’ headaches. Letting it down or removing hair accessories can often make you headache better!
Food and Drink – often blamed the most for headaches coffee, cheese and chocolate can trigger a migraine in some of us.
Alcohol – this is fairly common knowledge but if you drink excessive amounts of alcohol the chances are you will suffer a headache not long after!
Smoking – this can not only trigger a headache in the smoker but also in surrounding people who are inhaling the smoke.
To reduce the risk of getting a headache, exercise regularly, eat regularly and healthily, try to avoid stressful situations and take time to relax, unwind and close your eyes every now and again! If that fails, take paracetomol which is widely available at local shops and supermarkets if it’s still no better after a few days go and see your doctor.
